South New Brighton, Christchurch

This project is located in the seaside town of South New Brighton. In recent years, as the theory of global warming and rising sea levels has gained more traction, the government's requirements for building in seaside communities have become increasingly high. On the case of this site, the building foundations must be 1.6m over ground level. Despite this, many people still like to live by the sea. Our team has analyzed the market and building costs and believes that the most cost-effective solution is to build 6 small single-story villas; each has a plan area of 93m² with three bedrooms and two bathrooms.

The design is practical and well-functioned while maintaining a low construction cost. It would be a perfect choice for a young couple’s first home, a small family with a moderate income or a scaling down retiree, with extra attraction for the ocean lovers. With the estuary on one side and the Pacific on the other, both within 1 minute of walking, this project is irresistible to the ocean lovers.
